Seattle Public Schools has begun planning for the Building Excellence V (BEX V) Capital Levy to be submitted to Seattle voters on the February 2019 special election ballot. Capital levies are part of Seattle Public Schools’ long-range plan to upgrade and renovate aging school facilities on a planned and predictable schedule.
The BEX V Capital Levy would enable continued construction of new school buildings, and new additions and major renovations to existing buildings. This levy would also fund security and safety upgrades, building system replacement or upgrades, and improvements to classroom technology.
At Alki our PTA has formed a BEX V committee at the April 4th PTA meeting. This committee will advocate for and inform the Alki school community about issues related to the BEX V levy. Parent and advocate Jen Ogle has volunteered to chair this committee and is welcoming anyone interested in helping with this issue.
