Alki PTA Hosted Town Hall with District 34 Legislators

We invite you to an evening of discussion on the WSPTA Top 5 Legislative Priorities with Senator Joe Nguyen, Representative Eileen Cody, and Representative Joe Fitzgibbon.
Wednesday, December 2 (6:30-7:30 PM)
(Zoom link will be emailed to you prior to meeting)
The Alki Elementary PTA submitted a Legislative Priority Proposal to the Washington State PTA to “Increase Access to Nursing, Mental Health, and Social Emotional Learning Staff”. Last month at the WSPTA Legislative Assembly this was voted in as the #1 Legislative Priority for the next two years by ~300 PTA Voting Delegates across the state, echoing survey results from thousands of PTA Members. This critical issue combines with four other Priorities to create the new WSPTA Legislative Platform.
This will be an excellent chance to engage with our District 34 Legislators, State Senator Joe Nguyen, State Representative Eileen Cody, and State Representative Joe Fitzgibbon.

We’ll start the meeting with some information which should help orient the group around the goals of the Town Hall, related to the WSPTA Legislative Priorities. Each legislator will then have some time to introduce themselves and make an opening statement. After that we’ll use the rest of the time for Q&A.

If there are a lot of people, we’ll have to be judicious with questions and the time spent on each one. If there are fewer people, or there otherwise seems to be plenty of time, we can proceed more casually.

Here are a few ways that you can prepare for the Town Hall (but please feel free to attend without preparing)…

1) Read this article from 10/26, written by WSPTA’s Legislative Consultant Marie Sullivan, about what to expect in the upcoming Legislative Session…

      2) Learn about our District 34 Legislators
