Bike Everywhere Month

As you may have already heard, May is Bike Everywhere month (https://cascade.org/rides-and-events/bike-everywhere-month-2021)

During this month, the Alki PTA would typically host an in-person Bike Rodeo – to promote biking, bike safety, and bike skills – as well as an in-person Bike to School Day – where we would gather in two “trains” and all ride to school together (see photo of the Alki courtyard filled with bikes).
While those events cannot take place under the current rules / conditions, this year we would like to begin to regain momentum associated with Alki Elementary’s commitment to biking.
Although many of us are still learning remotely, working remotely, and avoiding group contact, it is still important to get outside, get moving, and biking is a great way to make the most of that time.
There are lots of ways to participate in this special month including:
Downloadable from the Cascade web site and also attached here is the Bike Around School and Bike Bingo from Cascade
You should consider participating in Cascade’s raffle event (instructions noted in the PDF).  But, this year you can also DOUBLE your chances to win by submitting the same information to Alki’s current Bike To School chairs Chris N. and Bryan F.
At the end of the month email chrisnutter@gmail.com a photo of your bingo card (whatever portion you have completed) and, only if you are comfortable with it, a photo of you and your kids enjoying Bike Everywhere Month (note: we will not use your photo in any way without prior permission).
Available in early June, we will have simple prizes for anyone who submits a bingo card (or just a photo and a note saying they have been out biking) and we will also conduct a blind raffle for a bigger, bike-themed prize for a lucky winner or two.
So get out there, bike safely, and have fun.
Cheers!
