2023/24 PTA Executive Committee candidates!

The Alki PTA Nominating Committee is pleased to present the candidates for the 2023/24 PTA Executive Committee:

In the office of President: Ashley Clingan
In the office of Vice President: Bonnie Sullivan
In the office of Co-Treasurer: Brittany Caldwell
In the office of Co-Treasurer: Katie Mascio
In the office of Secretary: Nicole Vickers

Executive Committee elections will take place at Alki PTA’s last General Membership meeting of the year, Thursday, June 1st.

The Alki PTA Board of Directors includes the elected officers of the Executive Committee as well as additional volunteer Chairpersons in the roles of: Communications, Fundraising, Events, Membership, and Advocacy. Board Member At Large and Building Leadership Team Representative round out the Board and Principal and staff representatives serve as ad-hoc members. There are still open roles available!

"Hi! I am Ashley Clingan, mom to Wyatt (2nd grade) and Emmett (incoming kinder) and my husband is Casey. I am the current PTA representative on Alki's Building Leadership Team and I also work on the yearbook committee. I am excited to get more involved next year! My professional background is in child advocacy and program management. Lately most of my time is dedicated to coaching baseball and tee ball and serving on the WSLL board. When we aren’t playing, you may find us on the beach or exploring Schmitz park. I care deeply about our community and everything that makes it so uniquely special"

"I am Bonnie Sullivan, mom of Claire (1st grade) and Henry (Kindergarten 2027). I have lived and worked in West Seattle most of my life, and am excited to invest more of my time and energy in our community school and our amazing students! When we're able to find a bit of spare time, our family loves hanging out at parks and baking slightly too many cookies."

"I love West Seattle. I love Alki Elementary. And I love all things education. I work at the Cascadia College Foundation, supporting access to higher education. I have a fourth grade daughter, Quinn, & a second grade son, Carter, at Alki and my husband, Greg, is a high school teacher."

Katie is continuing her role as Board Treasurer next year and is looking forward to shouldering Alki PTA's financials with Co-Treasurer candidate, Brittany. Katie has "a gaggle of kids," Enzo (3rd) Vinny (2nd) and Rocco (incoming Kinder.) Katie enjoys being involved at Alki and finds the proximity to the water beautiful and calming which will serve her well as she is also chairing the Alki Auction next year!

Nicole is continuing her role as Board Secretary and looks forward to her second year of service after gaining a year of experience. Nicole also stepped up to Co-Communications Chair this past year and was behind the weekly Enews keeping our community informed but is ready to pass the communications baton to a new volunteer and focus solely on Secretary for 2023/24. Nicole is mom to Owen (2nd) and Gregory (incoming kinder) and is looking forward to more in person events next year!
